The project involved repairing a hillside after a significant 2014 landslide, with the aim of recontouring the hillside to prevent further deterioration and potential future landslides. The scope of the project included demolition of the existing structures affected by the landslide and excavation of 14,800 cubic yards of earth at the base of the landslide to install a key drain system consisting of perforated, solid pipe and horizontal drains which allow the natural water flows in the hill to drain into the existing storm drain. The 4,500 linear ft. of horizontal drains were key to removing natural water from the hillside. We also imported 19,000 cubic yards of earth to recontour the hillside to a stable slope with drainage benches and surface drainage features to ensure safety of the surrounding community.
